Coax Splitter in series virginmedia for flats

Thanks Boristheengine - I found the DOCSIS material after I posted but your link is pretty informative. The Virgin engineer came and said pretty much what I expected (and what Boris has said) that so long as the signal strength was ok as measued in the flat (at the router) then all is OK (and...

    Stranded Core Coax

Just to close this thread off -- the F Crimp Plug for CT167 above works for a stranded conductor RG11 A/U cable. Mounting is a bit of a pig as the cable is so big/inflexible but can be done with the right tools There is no need to tin the core - (NASA says you shouldnt crimp to a solid conductor)

Coax Splitter in series virginmedia for flats

Thanks Littlespark, Dan, Ung, Oscar 21 and James for your replies… 0, sorry yes VM is Virgin Media 1, yes I can add an extra power socket in the cupboard for an active splitter. 2, I’m not sure if the issue is signal strength or signal quality (or if that is even a possible distinction?) so I...

Coax Splitter in series virginmedia for flats

Hi all… just after some independent opinions… I have a VM install with 4 units in one building. The VM the engineer ran one cable from the street to the basement. He then installed a 2 way passive splitter : one output for one unit and then the other output into a cupboard. In the cupboard he...

    Stranded Core Coax

Thanks for the reply Snowhead. I have the cablecon 7.5 connectors which the Virgin chap said was for RG11. One type of F connector I have seems to be one where the cable needs to push the pin out (which the stranded core cannot do). I have another F connector where the pin is already sticking...

    Stranded Core Coax

We have had RG11 installed in some flats for use with Virgin/Internet. It should I think have been RG6 but the guy at Virgin was insistent it should be RG11. The RG11 has a stranded (not a solid) central conductor. I need to get an F-type connector on the end. What’s the best way to do...

    Mira Shower

Hi Jamesa2487 Did you manage to resolve this? I have the same problem with a Mira Vision Dual… had to change the batteries in the controller but now it says out of range error. Tried re-registering it but no change. Even if the controller is sitting on top of the unit.
