Why doesn't my Security Light work?

I tested the supply with my AVO, I also confirmed the PIR has the same supply coming out. Readings are 247 Volts on both. This was tested between both Line & Neutral and Line & Earth.

    LED security lighting.

That's what I did originally. I was able to remove the integral PIR (because it stopped working) and reconnect the supply cables inside and then connect it to an external PIR that worked. It was OK till the LED Flood stopped working. If you know what you're doing, yes it is possible.

Why doesn't my Security Light work?

To answer your two questions: 1. Yes, I've tested the mains supply to the outside world and it appears to be OK - my AVO tells me it is anyway. I did wonder if it's my connections at the choccy block in the junction box and/or the PIR; i.e. I'd screwed onto insulation instead of cable, so...

Why doesn't my Security Light work?

I have a Security Light on my patio and until recently it worked fine. It stopped working and I couldn't decide if it was the LED Floodlight or the separate PIR that had stopped working so I replaced both. I checked them out first, connected them up and they work fine on my workbench, but then I...

Why are my LEDs so dim?

Thanks, everyone. I'm comparing costs of changing to mains powered from Low Voltage. If I'm going to rewire I'd sooner take that approach. Seems I missed the bit about Constant Voltage/Current when going down the Low Voltage route. I never buy cheap for these things and will take up the claim...

Why are my LEDs so dim?

I have 5 x 5W LEDs connected to a 12V transformer powering the lights in my kitchen. The transformer is described as 20 - 60W so at 25W I'm above the minimum load requirement. The lamps are described as 10 - 30V 5W LEDs so with the transformer output at a stated 11.6V I'm within the tolerances...

Electricians and Electrical Work During COVID-19 / Coronavirus Pandemic (Public Weekly Thread)

As a Customer, I've had guys in to look at my heating system (Air Source Heat Pump) and it worked very well. They arrived at the door wearing PPE, explained their requirements re Social Distancing and got on with the work. It really wasn't that different since I usually let them get on with...

    Interruptions on some Freeview Channels

Thanks for the replies everyone. Let's see if I can encapsulate the responses into one post. 1 - Static Zap, Overamplified. When getting the installation checked I asked that question and was told it wasn't a problem. 2 - littlespark, installation. Yes, it is off one aerial, but it impacts...

    Interruptions on some Freeview Channels

The thought had gone through my mind, but as a Retiree I don't have money to throw around. I know, in the grand scheme of things, they aren't expensive, but add in Recorders and other TVs (4 Tellys and 5 Recorders in the house) and the cost soon adds up. It may still be the only solution. My...

    Interruptions on some Freeview Channels

Hi all, Slightly strange one this - I think. Reception on the BBC Channels and one or two other Digital Channels breaks down now and again and I lose the reception. I live in the North West and receive signals from Winter Hill. Most channels are OK all of the time, but now and again (and it...

The old strip light. I had planned to replace it at some point in the future. Just had to bring the plan forward a bit.
