    Fused spur or not?

As an aside you seem to have channeled your cable down from the sockets and then horizontal behind the skirting board. This is out of zone and won't be possible for an 'electrician to sign off'.

Question: How do you tell if a Fake Breaker.

How funny. Ive dismantled 2 of these boards in the last few weeks - including one on the coffee table tonight.

    When electrics go wrong!!!

Indeed. This one in particular goes off with a 9v battery! By this point I'd already confirmed it was live with probes - this was just a more visual way to indicate my point - it wasn't possible to film whilst holding my approved voltage indicator!

    When electrics go wrong!!!

Seems the most approiate thread for this - a quick reminder in always proving dead! One of the more interesting jobs i was issued involved going inside a building that had been closed down & boarded up for about 8 years. Naturally it had been broken into a fair bit, fires started, undesirables...

    Small Data Cabinet Conundrums

Thanks. I think I'll just put the FCU in as requested. To be fair I've only seen the additional bonding thing when specified by data companies

    Small Data Cabinet Conundrums

Been asked to supply an FCU for a data cabinet. Sounds simple right? Not a huge server room style thing, just a small 6U data cabinet mounted on a wall containing a network switch, CCTV recorder and a 6-way 13a PDU I've seen these done in a variety of ways but not sure what's best to do. My...

    531.3.3 & Maintenance

As we know, Type A RCD's are favourite for many circuits (in terms of Socket outlets, lights etc) At our site most of our lighting is now LED - we've been swapping them out as a combination of upgrade and just remedial works. However, as they're all on Klik roses we haven't had anything to do...

    Providing Lighting from Motor Supply

Thanks all. As it happens - I haven't done this yet. The building got closed for other works and I'm awaiting a return date. As it happens there was a neutral in there - but I appreciate this explanation - it makes sense and I'll stick it in my memory!

    Church wiring advice

Recent church I stopped by (still boasting it's wooden Wylex rewriteable board) had had some recent work done. Type A RCD fitted adjacent the wooden board in an eclosure and black FP200 used with linian clips to add new sockets. Pukka job I thought.

    Providing Lighting from Motor Supply

Apologies for the vagueness in the title. You'll have to forgive my ignorance on the below too - I'm only just touching on 'industrial' as my work is generally more ' commercial'. I'm faced with a small pump house - rainwater sumps which takes the site rainfall and pumps it out. As an aside -...

UK Old ceiling light wiring clarification

That new pendant you're fitting seems to have damage to the suspended flex - treat yourself to a new one, they're only a couple of quid !

can i complete my NVQ3 portfolio doing electrical maintenance?

I did. Depends on your situation . In my role I could make it so I did the right jobs. Your employer is usually happy to help. Get in touch with your chosen training provider and discuss your situation with them. When I did it, I was in a maintenance role but my employer let me change a small 2...
