    32 amp 3 phase socket, 300ma RCD

Agreed! I've just briefly explored if I can legitimately consider this under section 740, as a temporary supply to a structure. This would require a 300ma RCD at origin (tick), and at first glance 30ma RCD protection for final circuits, and not specifically distribution circuits that come from...

    32 amp 3 phase socket, 300ma RCD

This would have all been fine under 17th edition! The 32A sockets needing additional protection under 18th should have had an exemption for 3ph distribution circuits IMHO!

    32 amp 3 phase socket, 300ma RCD

Thanks for your thoughts. Out of interest, what would be a ‘good’ circuit design for this scenario, as ultimately mobile units arrive with a male socket on them. They tend to have RCD main switch or all RCBO boards these days. The only alternative I can think of is hard wiring each unit...

Don’t worry we all hate those fittings!

    32 amp 3 phase socket, 300ma RCD

It's a good question. The further complexity is that one event uses their own portable unit, another event uses a larger one that is hired in. I know their own unit is tested annually as I've been asked to test it and have seen the records. The unit they hire in has it's own periodic testing...

    32 amp 3 phase socket, 300ma RCD

I'm interested how you would all approach this one. A 3 phase distribution board on a caravan site, under lock and key. Only warden and manager have access. One of the final circuits is protected by a 32A 3ph MCB and it supplies a 32 amp TPN socket adjacent to the board, the socket having it's...

Does a SPD need a dedicated MCB?

It actually isn't if you follow a logical process through the design and install process. You can then make informed choices to make the install easier. I wouldn't call a 3 phase unit simple But arguably significantly more dangerous if it isn't done right. With your current philosophy of...

Does a SPD need a dedicated MCB?

Have you read through this, regarding the DNO side of things? https://www.energynetworks.org/assets/images/Resource%20library/Electric%20Vehilcle%20Chargepoint%20and%20Heat%20Pump%20Combined%20Installation%20Process%20Flow%20Chart%20v1.3.pdf?1715270643 At first glance, I'd assume your scenario...

    First Zappi Install

I've finally found a customer rich enough to want a Zappi, and by heck it's so much nicer to install than the budget brands! But I wonder if anyone has installed one with recent firmware? All of the documentation and training videos talk about Device Limit and Grid Limit which make sense. The...

I should add, before someone else does, that some manufacturers specify a 3 amp fuse before the fan too.

    Loop into Fan

Welcome to the forum. Simple scenario 1, traditional ceiling rose wiring with just PL and SL at switch: Scenario 2 - Loop in and loop out at the switch with N and PL at the switch: In both cases: Grey is sleeved blue, and takes N to the fan via isolator (see below) Brown takes PL to the...
