Hi all, first time poster :)

trying to figure out the british naming conventions on electrical components, and in need of help to identify the name in the UK, so here goes..

I have a single speed 1hp pool pump with a sal****er clorinator that requires to be run for 2 hours daily to keep the free chlorine levels up and pool clean. i also have a 11kw water heater installed but due to an insane electrical bill, i've now installed water solar panels on the roof that works a treat, 1,5c over pool temp is better than the heater manages, but requires the pool pump to be run constantly when sunny. however, as the UK weather can be somewhat unreliable, I've also invested in a solar controller with temperature sensors that activates a 3 way valve to direct the waterflow to the panels when it sees temperature difference. this controller also have relays to switch the pump on and off, but no timer.

so onwards to my question.

i want to have a timer set for the pump to run for 2 hours every day, but with a override input (DSPT relay) function on the timer so the solar controller can override the timer and circulate water through the panels when required.

in the US a Intermatic T104R mechanical 240v 40a DPST pump timer is readily avalible from any major hardware stores for about 50usd but i can't find anything equivalent here in the UK..

any pointers to what i should look for?

cheers

Depending on the load you need to switch depends on your approach.
If you only have to operate a fairly small pump then I would suggest just using a timer relay (these are usually rated up to 16A maximum non inductive load), however these are generally single pole switching.
This is not to say that there are not DP timer relays, just I have not needed to look as generally only a single pole requires switching.

If you wanted to switch greater than 16A then I do not believe there is a readily available (and cheap) off the shelf unit.
