Britain Leave the European Union (Please be polite with other people's views)

Option 1. If they unite Ireland, then that will definitely resolve the border problem. But they will be in the EU, it's not for us to tell a sovereign country what to do. Option 2. Again, we can’t tell other countries what to do. But I can assure you, if that were possible it would be almost...

    Am I liable to pay

Not the toaster, though the last thing to do I suppose is to actually make some toast so the toaster gets to full heat, a fault may develop though I doubt it. Get back to your landlord.

    Am I liable to pay

Doesn't seem like the toaster to me, although unless it's tested you can't be 100% sure.

    Am I liable to pay

As Westward says, try the toaster in another socket on another circuit. On another rcd if you have a dual rcd board.

    Am I liable to pay

Agree, especially a new one. I do pat testing for landlords and as far I can remember I've never had one fail.

    Am I liable to pay

Sounds suspicious to me Jean, although unless the toaster is tested it's hard to be sure. Has the tripping now stopped? If so, try the toaster again, if it still trips then it's the toaster so take it back. If it doesn't then it obviously wasn't the toaster.

    Am I liable to pay

It looks like the sockets in your rented property are single pole, so if the switch is off the neutral is still connected. The only way to be sure that the appliances in this instance are disconnected is to unplug everything. What was it that was causing the problem?

    Customer wiring own electrics

No one’s suggesting that an EICR can be used to certify work Dave (at least I'm not) But what you can't do is issue an EIC now, that bird has already flown. All that you can do is, at the client’s request, undertake an electrical inspection and issue an EICR. What the client does with it is...
