Does one of the lights stay on when the other is off and vice versa with the switch in the other position. It looks like you've put both switch wires to the same switch.
Move the cable in L12 to L21 and it should work.
Think yourselves lucky, I've just paid £1300 for myself and one of my guys to do the course (not forgetting the 3 days sat in the classroom not earning money) :(
It's not the best diagram esp for home owners changing their own switches. I must admit they do look different and you can get a 4 gang on a single plate.
I wouldn't take much notice of what this company says looking at how they say to wire a 1 way switch with live and neutral! (I think they should have labelled the blue as switched wire). Most switches I've seen usually have L1 and L2 on same side.
If their diag is correct then it should work...
Just get pre-term fibre, it doesn't cost much extra. I would get minimum of 4 core in case you damage a core installing it. They do come with pulling socks to protect the terminations whist pulling them in.
It's an old system which has been added to. He said it's never worked properly.
There is no switching for the boiler, it's left to turn off when it gets to temp.

I've just looked at a heating system which has a few issues like immersion stat faulty.
This is the current set up -
Upstairs has H/W tank (that also feed downstairs) and heating both fed via a 3 port valve to a pump down by the boiler.

If you might end up transmitting HD over the cat5 to the TV's I would recommend running Cat6 to them.
Don't forget items like Sky / Freesat boxes, game consoles, audio systems like Sonos , heating / lighting controllers and don't forget to put some points in for WiFi access points.
