Overall main switch where the installtion has off peak heating ?

What is everyone's general procedure for provision of an overall installation main switch isolator where an installation has two DB's - one off peak, one on peak? Is it crucial a linked 4 pole main switch be installed to isolate both sets of tails or can a dispensation be made with some clear...

Surge Protection for off peak DB too?

Yes absolutely that is a possibility, the SPD would have to be at least 3 pole to enable both lines and N. But I was more interested in whether protecting at the ON peak DB would be sufficient protection for the OFF peak too.

Are modern storage heaters more efficient than old ones

Dreaded Asbestos. Dimplex stopped using it in their heaters around 1974 I think. But if you ring them with the model number they can normally advise whether theres any in it.

Surge Protection for off peak DB too?

Hi guys, So I have a domestic scenario where off peak E7 storage heating is installed. Client has asked for a DB upgrade and has opted for surge protection. Currently they have separate ON and OFF peak Wylex fuse boards tailed individually from the origin, the meter is 2 metres away. If I...

What is the BS number of the DNOs cutout fuse?

Obviously I haven't pulled it out! We can never tell exactly what is fitted because of the seals, so my question is thus; what do I enter on the Characteristics of the primary over current protective device? Has the the designation BS1361 type II fuse been super seeded by a BS88-3?

Can I calculate how fast an RCD should trip?

Hi all. Been bugging me. I think there is a way to calculate how fast a particularly rated RCD should trip (rather than measuring) but I can't remember how to do it ? e. g. If I was designing an SWA submain fed from a TT earthed installation and I needed to install say a 300mA TD RCD to...

30mA RCD protection required for existing circuit?

Fair enough, when replacing accessories or light fittings like for like, I usually make a note of a Zs and or any RCD test readings etc. where applicable on the job sheet for my reference, I don't normally go as far as issuing a MWC to the client but maybe I should start...?

30mA RCD protection required for existing circuit?

Would you issue a Minor works cert for a like for like light fitting replacement!?

30mA RCD protection required for existing circuit?

If I was replacing an existing light fitting in a domestic premises, making no alteration or addition to the circuitry, would I then be obligated to provide that circuit with 30mA RCD protection if it didn't already have it?

    Measure or calculate your Zs?

But wouldn't any deterioration in the circuit be identifiable in the compared R1+R2 measured readings?
