Supply to 3 phase DB tripped

My moneys on a momentary mains fails with a surge on energisation.

TT supply with TNS sub mains

So are the TN-S just distribution circuits? Sounds like all 15 units are relying upon one electrode for earthing.

    External wire box

That incoming cable looks like a BT 25 pair.

    External wire box

What’s written on the cover? BT and Virgin tend to put their names on things.

    External wire box

They look like data cables. The ones that have been cut of can be snipped out. But that could well be a BT multipair cable coming in so technically their property.

    Recording SPD install on EIC

There's a check box on the schedule of inspections regarding operation of SPDs.

    Another coding question

C2 if no signs of thermal damage etc. A couple of regs broken there but I don’t have my book to hand as I’m on holiday.

    Recording SPD install on EIC

IMHO if you provide OCPD for SPD then the usual test results are required as this would be classed as a new circuit. If no OCPD then only a mention of SPD on the description of works would suffice. If the SOD is a separate module then test results required for the cabling.

    Concentric stranded cable????

Could well be. Is this direct from the meter or sub main?

    Anybody done the G39 course?

Mine was two days and we covered a lot. Not just the usual safe isolation and access etc but I’m no a lot more informed about the HV network, cherry picker distances etc. We could have covered it a day but two days made for a very relaxed course with lots of good conversations and thoughts which...

    Earth rod fluid

Why so concerned about a label? If buried place a strip of electrical warning tape above it as recommended in several publications. If someone wants to cut a cable then a label won’t stop them.

    Earth rod fluid

At your point of connection like any other electrode. The only other way to interfere with the cable is to dig it up.

    Anybody done the G39 course?

I’ve done it and found it to be a very informative course, was a two day one organised by my previous employer. I'm on holiday at the moment so can’t check who the training provider was.

    Earth rod fluid

Label on the point of connection to the installation so at the earth terminal. You are installing an electrode, this could be a rod, tape, cable, steel reinforcement etc.

    Earth rod fluid

I’m not 100% but rather than use a rod you can pour 50% of the mix in a trench, strip back a couple of meters of 16mm and lay out on top of the mix then add the rest to fill the trench, ideal if no soft ground in the area as it can act as a path foundation etc.
