Hi Guys,
Recently got taken down the wrong path on Schneiders product selection on their website, ordered an MCCB 100a TP, easy, or so i thought, fitted new switch and on testing the swith find that i am missing a phase, MCCB has a CT module on the bottom of it which is proved to have voltage at top of switch on the centre terminal and nothing on the corresponding terminal on the CT unit, so strip off the CT unit to prove the switch is ok and notice the centre terminal is just the lock nut and there is no terminal, apparently i had ordered this as an option which is classified as a 2D after the product code instead of a 3D but nothing in any other descriptions.
Q, What application would you specify an MCCB like this as opposed to having a 3D and just not use the terminal if not required.

Chris

That’s about the only plausible reason to manufacture them. It wouldn’t surprise me if they charge the same as a 3 pole unit.

The only times I’ve used MCCB’s and ACB’s for DP supplies I used 4 pole units with 2 poles in series. It made a Schneider technician wince when I explained the voltage and MPFC. 660V 75KA MPFC

Lol, i bet it did, lesson learnt for myself, dont try and be clever and help the wholesaler, leave them the blame element for mistakes.
