I intend to move mine a foot to the left so I can fit a toilet under my stairwell, currently it will be in the way of knees when sitting on the loo, it will mean cutting the seal and pulling the fuse so I can replace the tails from the henley block and to extend them, thoughts?

Gasp!!!!!

This isn't the kind of work you should be doing as a DIY'er, cutting seals has been known to attract hand-wringers from far and wide which invariably leads to threads with hundreds of posts. If you give your location I'm sure one of the forum professionals who's local to you will offer to help you out.

Can't you just chop your knees off? Or replace then for non-combustible knees. Better still, fit a smoke detector within 3 meters of your knees. Sorry. I know. All knees should now be supported with metal clips whilst walking through an escape route.

If you look closely at the seals you will see that they fell off a long time ago when the house was rewired in the 60s, if your going to extend the tals then wait till your neighbour goes on holiday tell them you will look after the house and extend the talls to their meter it's just like having solar panels but without the Out lay, and then you might be a able to fit a beday, and grow tomatoes in your loft, hope this helps

I had a similar situation with mine and wanted to move it higher up the wall.

The meter, fuse & isolator are all on a plywood board about 500mm square and the incomer is that nice flexible split concentric stuff.

A preliminary investigation under the floor found a veritable sh!tload of slack on this incomer so it was very easy to lift and re-fix the complete ensemble 3 feet higher and 1 foot to the right from its original position.

No seals were injured and no Henley block was needed - Perfect!

My thanks go to the anonymous DNO bod for being so generous with his split concentric.

Try and get yourself a smart meter (if you don't have one already) they're much smaller and neater and they'll probably fit it where you want it (within reason).

Are they smaller?
