Hi all,

Page 66 Table 7.1 in OSG for 30A BS3036 4.0/1.5mm says "NP" and "Npol" (combinations not allowed in any of the installation conditions)... can someone confirm this please?

Reason is I'm preping for inspection and testing course and reading Chris Kitcher's Practical Guide to I.T and Cert' book, and one of the scenarios is as follows:

new ring consisting seven sockets, 53 metres of 4.0/1.5mm t&e protected by 30A BS3036 fuse, TNCS, 100A main BS1361 fuse, 100A BSEN 61008-1 RCD as main switch.

Hypothetical, but is this allowed in practice as OSG seems to suggest not?

Maxi, I think you're looking at the row in the table for radial circuits, in which case I'm guessing (without looking) that 4mm wouldn't be acceptable on a 30A 3036 radial (probably the Cf factor of 0.725 derating the cable right down). However, if you look at the ring circuit rows of the table (at the top of the table) you'll see a 30A 3036 ring can use 4mm cable.

Instead of looking at the table section for radial circuits start at the beginning of the table and look at the values given for ring final circuits for 4/1.5/ BS3036 and then you will find that the arrangement is permitted.

(but typing too slowly)

And in my defence, my copy of OSG omitted the "30" in that row, hence i missed it.
