Evening guys,
A friend of mine has had these halogen ceiling recessed lights for about 17 years. Anyone know where to obtain a new transformer from? Would they still be available?
If not, alternative would be new LED fittings hopefully without transformers.
Many thanks

I would rip it out and fit a 230v GU10 LED,,,
That would be my recommendation, if the customer is willing to pay for all the downlights in the same room to be changed. Generally find those that want them changed already have them changed, the others will settle for a simple Transformer Replacement

And as 1 Transformer goes, the rest are not always too far behind

A while back a client asked me for a quote to change to LED's - I did my usual and quoted for GU10's - a few weeks later he called me as the LED bulb he had fitted was going on / off constantly !
I bet it cost him more monies for you sort it out .tight a88 c88ts

Thanks for response guys. I did suggest replace all 5 with LED GU10.s.
After advice from here, I fitted some at another house which required 72mm dia holes. At this particular house, existing holes are 50mm dia. The one that I looked at, was near to a joist. I'm now thinking, new hole will have to be off centred to existing fitting. That in itself is not a problem, just wondering how to do very carefully.
I'll see if faulty item can be replaced. good point about others ageing also. Thanks

you should be able toget your hole saw pilot bit just off the 50mm hole (away side from the joistby about 10mm) and cut new 70mm hole to encompass the old 50mm hole.

Good thinking Telectrix, applying a bit of maths, I can see that working. Due to their age and lights being a bit dull anyhow, I'm going to suggest replace with LED GU10.s
