Discuss Should M&S know better? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net
Agree it's their buyers thare at fault, probably an inexperienced University Graduate in Business Management, with absolutely no electrical experience, or common sense, personaly I like M&S and their aftersales ethos, the faults lie with the Management, much the same as the Orange sheds, buy and then sell anything if there is a market.
Things like this need bringing to their atention. Mind you tried it once before with the Management at the Orange Shed, got nowhere, in one ear and out the other.

I can't really see that well but it looks like you don't have a 20mm (male) brass bush looks like they clamped that box just between two 20mm locknuts.

My money is on it being a metal class 2 fitting. Out of curiosity why has your curiosity not got the better of you and had it stripped it down to see for yourself? I know the very first time I came across one of these I stripped it down to make sure I didn't make a fool of myself failing a desk lamp unnecessarily during its 'pat' test.

Looking at the scrawping marks at all the nuts,it could have been swapped/modified,from original design,so M&S are innocent until further information

I hadn’t noticed the scrapes. They are new just taken the packaging off - I fitted an earth.
Wonder how many of these are waiting for a spark doing an EICR to C3 them?

The sleeving on the flex to the lamp holder doesn’t go into the tube up to lamp holder - I don’t see how it could be class 2 myself - happy to be enlightened though!
