Dear forumist.
Am a bit baffled, I went a customer house earlier to advice on electrical installation for an external shed.
I said to them they will need a new circuit and obviously need an EIC certificate.
I went to check on CU board but all I could find was as attached photos. One biggish old mems main isolator and small where all power and lights come from.
I have tried to locate another CU in the whole 3 bedroom semi with no joy. Do one of you longtime experience sparkie know where else to check, if nothing else available is this configuration acceptable?
Am struggling to add the photos, i will try in a seperate thread

not part p then !
That too, however the company I work for are.
On this, time constrain will be the main factor.
So what did you suggest regarding the shed?
As I initially didn't know about the Mems isolator I told them, I won't be undertaking the shed project until the hoise bit is sorted, however he said he will be talking to his friend who install his cctv and he will let me know.
He also believe the house elecytic were done 3 year ago before buying the house and the wife have all the the certificates.

why is everyone jumping on rewire? are cables VIR or PVC? any testing of circuits done? OK a shiny new CU with eaerthing and bonding upgraded. pre=tests will show whether or not a rewire is needed.
Spot on telectrix, they are PVC from the point I could see.
I also mentioned maybe we can start with EICR to get direction of the next step.

I came to these on my one job not long back...even with a helpful note from a time when i expect some on here were wee apprentices

Is a couple of weeks not too much? at the moment I rewire lights and change the box and test within 12hrs with appretice
2 bedroom flat.
Kitchen 1st fixing 4hrs, or that what time we are given from the office..
2 weeks is about right when you have to roll up carpets, shift furniture, cut flloorboards etc.

#38. There's the asbestos we were talking about!

The corrections made to my earlier post about snipping the cables? Yes of course, turn the power off first. Silly me for assuming a non professional would be doing the works and not be following safe isolation procedures.

Is it a bit unfair to criticize the OP for not knowing these old style boards? You don't come across them very often now.

It's wrong to offer advice to someone who has lmited or no experience of electrical work, in one of Gakure's post, he mentioned that there were electrical certificates form work done about 3 years ago, that in itself seems odd judging from the photos provided.
If you take into account of how he intends to do this work, and how long he thinks it will take, it becomes even more of a problem, Gakure has mentioned his Boss, wonder what his experience is? You then have the language problem, not Gakure fault, I know I, along with many of the Forum members, would struggle to converse in any foreign language, for these reasons, I asked the question regarding experience, there was never any criticism, just an
honest doubt in his ability to contemplate takng this work on, and the stream of posts has led me to believe that Gakure is so far out of his depth, and shouldn't even try ato do this work, or it's someone winding the Forum up. I hope Gakure will take note of this, and not treat it as a mickey take.

Thanks Pete as I said, am brought up to respect and listen to my elder, any advice may it critics or bashing, it good for my knowledge collection.
I will be lying to say that am experience or knowledgeable enough as that will be cocky.
When i said couple of days I didn't 2 days literally.
In between our thread I contacted the client, that when he said they got document of work done 3yrs ago and hence why I shared after.
Regarding H/S and isolation, since 90s I have worked, design, install, commission and project manage backup power station in different part of globe hence am aware of the dangers around.
Anyway, i sincery appreciate your inputs.
