Nice one Murdoch. I just had a little look through and went to the lighting section. Am I being stupid.... What does three per four mean on page 81?

Edit: just realised they mean 75% of total. Why didn't they just say that instead!

So could have six Enlite E8s* and two 50w halogens. Snazzy!

I went to the lighting section as well. I note that outside lights have to turn off automatically. About 18 months ago the council came and replaced the street light outside my house with an LED one - being as how the original had been on continuously for 6 months prior to this (despite 2 phone calls to them), I mentioned to the guy doing it that I assumed he would be fixing the time clock/sensor. "No mate, we don't carry stuff for that, I am just doing the light" Despite another phone call it is still on all day and all night, so it sort of makes you wonder really, about documents like this, doesn't it?

Surrey invested a colossal amount updating all the street lighting with the ability to remotely manage them ...

Then about 18 months ago they were switched off from midnight to 5 am - meaning a saving of 50 per house .....

Following lots of complaints they now go off at 1 am ....

What a waste of time and money...

I agree. I've never really got this turning the lights out at night. The power stations still have to keep outputting, and hence leccy is cheap overnight.

I can sort of see the argument for night street lighting in residential areas, safety & preventing crime etc, but I do wonder about some of the lighting for other roads. I know some will scream road safety, but vehicles have lights, and if you properly, it shouldn't be an issue.

Always stare in disbelief when flying (I know, another bad ecology thing) at night, and the amount of lights cities & rural areas.
