I live abroad...this is considered normal! When we have heavy rain sometimes these types of connections start to arc, the fireworks are spectacular as the cable often melts.

My own house is connected properly, but still the mains is 4x16mm aluminium single-insulated and I have 4x35mm copper SWA from meter to CU. Thankfully my 17 split ACs are never all on at the same time.

Some things I've come across this week while testing and commissioning some emergency lights on a new build. Just simple stuff that people should not be doing....

We’re those cables dressed by a rodent! There’s gnaw marks all over them.
Don’t show @westward10 those CPC sleeves that look like Nora Battys stockings - he’ll throw a wobbler!

I saw loads of crap like that and worse working in Asia. Are you out there?

I think wet pants suffer from a medical condition known as “cable blindness” resulting in a complete inability to see electrical cables, seems to be spreading as well.....
No mate not cable blindness it's FYJIAR, work it out for yourself, sometimes boarders and Chippies can catch it, but it seems to be virulent in the WetPants community.

public footpath lit by bollard lights. This one obviously failed so big JB instead. No grommets, 2 cables just shoved inside, earths terminated into a choc block outwith the enclosure, and which has split and rusted with weathering, so that one cpc has fallen out and the rest are somewhat compromised. Tidy, eh?
