afternoon

first time since amendment 3 came out that I have had to install a TT system

I need to install site temps on a plot of land ready for new build flats.

UKPN will be installing a new PME temp supply

Am I right in thinking I am ok to take my tails through a nylon Wiska tail gland- through a amendment 3 board using a clamp. with a 100ma timed delay main switch.

then 30ma RCBO any of the circuits out of here that need them. think they are getting site cabins with pre wired boards in them anyway.

Cheers

Not again,a metal DB fine too....
Yes either metal or plastic is fine but additional precautions must be taken if you opt for metal. IMO in the Op’s Situation I would of used an IP rated plastic board like I linked to. I don’t understand really why you would want to introduce a potential that wouldn’t exist if a plastic board was installed...especially on a building site where things regularly get knocked/pulled about. Maybe the difference is actually understanding and going above and beyond the Bare minimum.

Alright @cliffed - let it go. It’s a temporary supply. We don’t want to get it scratched.

Hi all
It is TT so at the meter position use a 300ma to 500ma RCD linked to a SPD in a plastic enclosure. DO NOT USE METAL AS THERE IS NO RESETABLE SAFETY CUTOUT BETWEEN THIS AND THE SUPPLY!! Any fault prior to the incoming RCD with blow the Supply Company fuse resulting in site black-out and a call out charge, not to mention blue language.
Earthing at this point must be to a dedicated earth spike and make sure the earth is good.
The SPD is necessary as if there is a lightning strike on the TT supply anybody working on rebar gets fried!
The choice of DBs after this is up to the installer.

Probability of the fault scenario ,quite small, using appropriate cleats etc, would minimise this, still a metal DB for me.

I'm assuming the cable will have to be cleated well to hold it in place anyway, as a stuffing gland ain't going to hold it tight like a SWA gland...
