Hello everyone,
This is my first post.
I live in a semi detached timber frame type house. I am taking down a non supporting wall/ cupboard in my sitting room which will give me an extra 1mt x 3 mt of space.
Unfortunately in the cupboard there is the electrical meter, fuse box and storage heater fuse box.
I would like to maximise the space so was thinking of fitting a new consumer unit which would have a separate main switch for the storage heater circuits. Is there such a consumer unit available, and is it possible.
I would also like to sink the consumer unit into the wall, again to maximise space. The consumer unit has to stay where it is, due to cable lengths but was thinking of getting the Scottish powers meter moved about 2 meters away and running in new tails. Is this possible.l have attached a picture of the board etc.
Any info or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Box it in a simpler solution

You can also get a new CU fitted in a new position. This will also cost.

If it s on a wall with a cavity then you could take away the inner wall and resess the consumer unit and meter in a cupboard and put door on, don't forget the lintel. Looking at your photo would be a good idea to upgrade you consumer unit

Thanks everyone for replying.
I am going to change to a new unit if I can get one that incorporates economy 7.
Don't want to box as the want a corner sofa,so need all the space.
Not sure if it is tns or tncs, meter has been changed a few times over the years
