It appeals to me too but not for voltage related reasons - what equipment were you working on? We have a lovely Rank Cintel MKIII telecine that kicks out biphase to sync to an Albrecht MB51 sound follower.

DP75 70mm projector that is being used for mobile preview work. We play the audio direct from a BWF file chasing the proj via the Rosendahl BIF. I'll post some pics if you like.

It would certainly heat up faster at 240V! I have a large 240-120V transformer to power my American kitchen appliances here.
