Hi
I have 3 light switches in a single box. 1 switch controls the hallway lights, the 2nd switch controls the garage inside lights and the 3rd switch controls the outside lights.
I would like to replace the outside light switch with a timer switch.
The switch I will take out has 2 black wires and a ground wire. The timer has a white, a black and a blue wire. I am assuming the blue and black will replace the 2 black wires on the original switch, but I don't know what to do with the white wire.
All the white wires are connected together. I am assuming that one of the black wires go to the light and the other to the bundle of black wires. Any one can tell me which wire goes to which?
thanks
Paul

Paul the timer switch wires like it shows the black is your hot and the white is the neutral and when your timer comes on it will make the blue hot for your light outside

It’s just a 120vac timer from the picture on the timer and with the white and black it powers up the timer. Do you know the voltage on the light outside

Paul the black on top in the wire nuts goes to where the switch is showing the you have to get one of the whites and hook it like your print on switch The bottom black goes with the blue wire

Thank you-
So the old switch did not require to go to the neutral? But the new one will.
So I am guessing the blue and black on the new switch will go to where the 2 black wires on the old switch were and I will have to add a wire from the white bundle to the white switch wire. That right?

That’s correct just do it like I told you black on top goes to the bottom of the switch then the other black to the blue
