B: battery A:alternator DCM: dc motor
How do I wire all this together to power/charge its self
[ElectriciansForums.net] How to make this idea work
I'm mainly trying to power a light ,2 fans, and a small tv and charge my phone

Short answer:
One or more car batteries and an Inverter will provide 230v Ac for your equipment.
The motor and alternator will charge the batteries.
But you can’t just plug in the motor and it won’t charge itself. You lose more power running the motor than you create with the alternator.
You might want to look into how caravans and boats handle this stuff.

I'm saying like 4 or 5 alternators wouldn't be enough to power its self and is it possible to share a diagram for what I need

The issue with any kind of setup like this is losses.

You won't get the same amount of power out of the motor as you put in due to electrical and mechanical losses (resistance in the windings, friction in the bearings etc.). Likewise, you won't get the same amount of power out of the alternators as you put in, for the same reasons.

The net result is you'll get less power out than you put in and the batteries will run out of charge.

It's a physically impossible to create a system that can produce enough power to maintain it's operation without further input, let alone maintain it when you are extracting power from the system for other purposes.

Unfortunately there are lots of Facebook groups and YouTube videos which claim otherwise. Some look quite convincing, with video examples of working examples. Having watched a bunch of these I can with some confidence say they are all fakes.

And ask yourself this... if this kind of thing really worked... why are all the professional electricians here still purchasing power from the power companies? Most members here are technically capable of building these things but we don't, ask yourself why that might be.

Okay well what about if I had a ac motor (plugged into the home with actual power) turning the alts. To charge the bats. To power some dc lights and what not how would I wire it
The same as in a car - basically two wires from alternator to battery. Then connect the DC lights to the battery, ideally with a fuse inline on the positive side.

What is the end application for this? I'm pretty sure there is a more efficient way to do what you are trying to achieve. Maybe these diagrams will help - if you have a mains supply to hand 'sometimes' then this kind of arrangements is far more common.

Or this arrangement which uses solar to help top up the batteries:

If you have got the idea of spinning an alternator with a small motor from turning the shaft of an alternator by hand, you will have formed an impression that the shaft spins freely. Once the alternator reaches normal speed and electrical load is connected, this is no longer the case. The shaft becomes stiff to turn as the operation of the alternator absorbs mechanical power and converts it into electrical power. If you attached an 80A alternator to a bike wheel, you would not be able to pedal it at anything like full output - it would take five people or more. To spin five reasonable size alternators at full power requires something like a 12 hp motor.

The principle of driving an alternator or generator with a motor to convert voltage or frequency is an old one, that was used until about the 1960s when better alternatives started to take over. A normal modern power supply unit is smaller, quieter, more efficient and cheaper.
