Ive liked Doncaster .But it seems many retailers want to buy and sell the cheapest brand possible !

Doncaster ,Pirelli, BICC were good quality T&E. Looks like Prysmian has dominated the market.
If I remember correctly Pirelli bought the small cable division of BICC and some years later became Prysmian
One you didn't mention although I have not found any wholesaler selling it in along time was AEI, back in the 80's I think they were the only company who manufactured 1.5 and 2.5 stranded t & e as a carry over from the 3/.029 and 7/.029 imperial cable sizes. A large factory project I was working on at the time had it specced for all the welfare and office wiring, every couple of weeks I was tasked to go to the factory in Leigh to collect 4000m of the stuff

Looking back to when I started in the industry there was more than 20 sites within a 30 mile radius of where I live manufacturing cable of all types now it's down to 2 or 3

what ever happened to Draka cable ?

I remember Buying loads of draka twin & earth in the 00s

I stocked up with Prysmian in Denmans this week as they have it on pallets cheaper than Screwfix as they ordered a load few months back.
I got given some dodgy turkish SWA at start of year, you couldnt strip it properly, it sort of snapped and cracked, I took the roll back and demanded a refund. they reluctantly gave my money back.
Have had a roll of similar stuff where when I IR tested the cable it had shorts between conductors, insulations was awful inside.

Anything that says 'kablo' is generally rubbish in my experience. Prysmian, Doncaster and many other reputable brands are good and all very much the same.

What were Denmans charging? , cheapest I can get 2.5 prysmian is screwfix

my local independent wants £61+vat
[ElectriciansForums.net] which is the current easiest T & E to work with ?

2.5 x 100m £52+VAT
1.0 X 100m £28 + VAT

Wich is quite good for Prysmian as usually the likes screwfix sell it close to cost price but Denmans bought there mountain of it months back due to shortages elsewhere and have the price locked in until its gone.

They were cheaper on 4mm, 6mm and 10mm than screwfix aswell.
