Can anyone tell me what model number this wylex board is please.
I am aware there are 2no types of model of this type of wylex db.
1 of them allows a NHXSBS1S1B32 wylex rcbo to fit
The other type doesn’t.
I cannot get to job to take off lid to find a model number of this board
Can anyone answer this question??

From my old catalogues it is likely to be Wylex NH1106.
I am not sure why but I thought the NSB range were pretty universal but according to Wylex the NHX range are not compatible with them all, quote the model number and they say yay or nay.
As an aside the 04 at the end means all insulated and 06 is metalclad.

I believe it is to do with the busbar used - whether 'cage' type or straight. I recall there being a picture posted some time back on this forum but can't immediately find it.

I know that the NHX breaker I tried on a similar looking board to the second pic wouldn't fit properly - It did fit on the din rail fine, and the standard straight busbar tightened satisfactorily, but it pushed the mcb a couple of mm too high for the front to fit on without some 'adjustment'....

Has put me off Wylex completely to be honest, even MK have managed to keep their stuff more or less compatible since they switched to normal lower terminals.... I can't see a single good reason why Wylex shouldn't have been able to.

Have had a very similar experience recently and it got me thinking about what I know about Wylex boards from when I was fitting them every day back in mid 00's..
To summarise
  • 2 different bus bar set ups 'balcony' and 'flexi'. Balcony ,drop on, flexi ,cut to length & clipped on rail.
  • balcony used NSB black clipped breakers and flexi used red clipped , different bottom terminal, same part number. I believe there was a revised red clip style at some point but can't remember the details.
  • RCBOs were 2 types as well
  • Black clips fitted in flexi boards but red didnt fit balcony despite having a similar (but not the same) cut out notch in casing at bottom terminal.

Had a chat with a trusted wholesaler friend and he confirmed pretty much the above and showed me the 2 types of NHX RCBO available ,basically the standard height (not compact) one is supposed to be compatible with all NSB type boards and early NHX boards and the compact NHXL (I think there might be full height versions too not sure) is only for the most recent boards which have a different again busbar.
Having said this I have a sneaking suspicion there are 2 different types of balcony style boards out there, 1 totally straight and one with a small set at the mainswitch end.
Am going to take some covers off and search through my 'private collection' and see what I turn up.
Anyway grabbed an NHX RCBO to try and fit to a balcony board so will update after the weekend.

bloody wylex. had one last week. wylex 3 phase board, I needed to fit a C20 single phase MCB. 2 adjacent MCBs were NHBX, so I bought a NHBX C20, busbar not aligning exact with MCB cage. tap on with hammer (gently) works OK. investigation reveals that I should have fitted a PSB type. quick call to wholesaler, swapped it next day. first wylex (and the last) 3 phase board I want to seee.
