Just received an unsolicited email from this company looking for contractors in my area i.e. GU postcode. Aberdeen based company touting maintenance work for 27 properties a month. This fits exactly with the MO used by previous Scottish based operator who has caused issues for other members of this forum in the past. My spider senses say SCAM so beware and my ex-police senses say ....they're well at it, still!

Here you go. Nothing but false promises. They asked me for 2k upfront but when I hesitated they settled for half the amount which was 1250. Since I paid, they have been uncontactable. This was April earlier this year. They found me on checkatrade and said they were endorsed by them. After speaking with my bank and checkatrade they said they never heard of them. These are the full company details below. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED:

Good Morning,

We are a nationwide residential management company, we understand that you are in the LE Postcode and are qualified electrical contractors.

We are looking for a qualified company or electrician to look after a 12 month planned maintenance contract.
  • The Contracted Company or individual will have to be capable of completing a minimum of 23 properties per month, for a minimum of 12 months
  • Each rental property is required to have a EICR and PAT. (Our contract is to keep our clients within the legislation that came in to force on 1st June 2020)
  • Must be able to adhere with a 14 day invoice cycle.
  • Must be willing to take full control of arranging their own diary
  • Set remuneration for specific services
  • Must have own public liability
We are an equal opportunities company and have a fair and unbiased process.

If you think you meet the criteria, do not hesitate to get in touch via the number or email address provided below

I get loads.....just ignore 'em and certainly don't click on anything.
They're doing you a favour, offering work, ....but it's from a mailing list. Bowlocks! Probably one of tens of thousands.

The last one was in April.....exactly the same as above.

Their website has a date of 2015 on it and looks dated

I think I have had the call, but they get short shrift when I tell them that if they are looking for money from me during this or future calls it is not happening
@baldelectrician How are you, fully recovered I hope?

The same thing happened to me. They are really sophisticated. They even sent me a docusign verification email and a contract. However, as soon as I sent the payment, communications went down the drain. They stopped responding to my emails and did not answer any of their phones. My bank has refunded me the 1250 as they have become uncontactable.

I’ve fallen for this also. I’m absolutely gutted. Been in business 6 months. Been flying and this has really knocked my confidence and obviously hurt my cash flow.
My bank aren’t being helpful they just said there isn’t any funds to recover from the transaction and they can’t comment further due to GDPR Guidelines.

What was your reason for getting in touch with the tw*ts?

If it's happening to so many and for so long, how are they getting away with it?
I know they're cunning barstewards but has anybody had a trip to Aberdeen to try to trace and sort them out?

Loads too embarrassed to say out, I'll lay odds.

They contacted me similarly to the others that have fallen for it. I am naive and young in business and this is a elaborate scam.

Paying by Bank transfer at least gives you their bank details, your only hope is the "Financial Ombudsman" not as onerous as it sounds they are very helpful all can be done online.

I've had the e mail several times and always just delete it. What also stood out as dodgy amongst other things was the mention of PAT as well as EICRs. Landlords don't supply everyday plug in equipment so would have no responsibility for this at all.

I had same guy on, £140 an EICR and £2.50 per item PAT? guy knows a bit but not enough! We have min of 30 properties a month blah blah blah commission is £2.5K PA, half up front half at end year sound familiar?
said tell you what pal ill do 30 EICR then pay half knowing fine well he was a scammer. never rang again

Morning,
I am a heating engineer and very ashamed to say I've fallen foul of this scam too. £2250 lighter and absolutely no contact from them. They've clearly blocked my number and when I call off my partners phone and I get through to them they tell me that they will get someone to call me back to discuss refunding my money.
FYI - I've noticed they have changed their name on companies house as now 'Nationwide Home Repairs'.

Verrrrrry tempted to take a drive up to Aberdeen..!! Could kick myself for falling for it.
I also paid via bank transfer - how are you fighting to get your money returned (if not already done by the bank)?

Thanks,

The names (although I suspect are false) are:
Andrew Muir
Edward Watt
David Mannion
Richard (no last name)

My bank are being no help what so ever. They say they can’t get it back. I am
Gutted with myself but it was so elaborate.
The office address in Aberdeen is one where you just hire an office by the hour

Thanks,

Have any of you contacted the "Financial Ombudsman" it's all on line and very easy, don't get frustrated or stressed if you can help it, look upon it as a work ethic at £2000 + payment, be a Bulldog and don't give up, let the Financial Ombudsman be the final blow they normally come down on the side of the consumer.

I’ll be in Aberdeen at some point visiting my daughter.
Has this crowd got an office address there, or is it just an Aberdeen area phone number?

I could go all Rogue Traders on them, my wife with camera, demanding to talk to the boss….. I could take some strongly worded letters of complaint…

Bullsh*t. take a couple of Govan lads backed up by a Scouser or 2. offer the offenders a couple of bog rolls. if you got it right, they'll need them.
