Just received an unsolicited email from this company looking for contractors in my area i.e. GU postcode. Aberdeen based company touting maintenance work for 27 properties a month. This fits exactly with the MO used by previous Scottish based operator who has caused issues for other members of this forum in the past. My spider senses say SCAM so beware and my ex-police senses say ....they're well at it, still!

It's not just a shame, it's criminal fraud that they get away with because its deemed not to be worth the police following up, it must amount to millions of £ but still they get away with it because of lax checks or no checks made by the companies we buy through, in your case I would get Trading Standards and the Financial Ombudsman involved, you have nothing to loose, but possibly a bit of sanity banging your head upon a brick wall. ?

I may have fallen for this scam recently sending £2250 to the company as a security payment for the landlords information who issue the EICRS.
I have been in contact since paying the few however, no information or work has been sent over. ST1 area. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks
What did they offer to do for this £2250 security payment and were they expecting more payments

Very convincing. All false promises

If something looks too good to be true, it generally is, why do they want monies from you to carry out work for them?

So who was the company so others can be warned? No harm in naming a scam company.

That's the bit I don't get. They're asking for payment for work provided?

I've always worked on the proviso that payment will be for work carried out.

So basically mind blowing......

I can only just get my head around all these agents setting up to provide work for trades people.......and just 'make a living' out of other people trying to do the same. BUT even worse, asking for money for SFA.......and getting it? WOW!

Here you go. Nothing but false promises. They asked me for 2k upfront but when I hesitated they settled for half the amount which was 1250. Since I paid, they have been uncontactable. This was April earlier this year. They found me on checkatrade and said they were endorsed by them. After speaking with my bank and checkatrade they said they never heard of them. These are the full company details below. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED:

I know, it's insane. These guys are so sophisticated in their approach. They know the market and they use that knowledge to take advantage of tradesmen. The bank has warned me that they are even paying people to leave good reviews on trust pilot and other review sites. I was warned by my bank that scammers are replicating reputable websites to make themselves seem very genuine. Crazy world out there.

There is also a chap by the name of Edward Watt he spoke very professionally and kindly on the phone you would not even believe he was a scammer but these guys are literally con artists. There is also a woman in their team involved. You would think that with three people

The upfront money is the commission fee.

I get loads.....just ignore 'em and certainly don't click on anything.
They're doing you a favour, offering work, ....but it's from a mailing list. Bowlocks! Probably one of tens of thousands.

The last one was in April.....exactly the same as above.

Their website has a date of 2015 on it and looks dated

I think I have had the call, but they get short shrift when I tell them that if they are looking for money from me during this or future calls it is not happening
@baldelectrician How are you, fully recovered I hope?

The same thing happened to me. They are really sophisticated. They even sent me a docusign verification email and a contract. However, as soon as I sent the payment, communications went down the drain. They stopped responding to my emails and did not answer any of their phones. My bank has refunded me the 1250 as they have become uncontactable.

I’ve fallen for this also. I’m absolutely gutted. Been in business 6 months. Been flying and this has really knocked my confidence and obviously hurt my cash flow.
My bank aren’t being helpful they just said there isn’t any funds to recover from the transaction and they can’t comment further due to GDPR Guidelines.
