Ok. Fun Monday one.

Can someone tell me the IP rating of a Debenhams bag?

Should I be using M&S or for top protection a Harrods one?

I would guess around IP24
as long as it has been well tied round the item being protected.

for outdoor equipment, I would prefer to see a black bag as the carbon helps with the uv protection to a limited degree.

Unfortunately, I dont believe the retailers list how well there bags perform as weather protection and although there may be some merit in using a bag from a high cost shop, it has yet to be independently verified.

Some of the supermarket bags are biodegradable, so nit really ideal.
A friend tells me the small pink ones from Anne Summers are pretty waterproof though...

Reminds me of when i used to work at the Dundee flower and food festival. The stallholders would rent their little pitch for their garden displays, and ask for a double socket if they needed one. So they were left their little plot of land and a socket on a wooden stake.

I get an emergency call, power off in half a dozen stalls.
Go and find someone that had plugged in their little lights and water features, covered the socket in a black bag, and then dumped a tonne of topsoil over it to create their "masterpiece" on.

Its not just about waterproofing it... its heat disapation as well
