UK Mcbs

Hi all. I have a question if I may. I will not be doing this myself. Just enquiring before I find a sparky in my area. I have a small CU in one of my sheds on a 40a rcd with 2 mcbs 32a and 6a. The 32a runs my pond. Just pump and filter. Can I have 2 16a mcbs instead. One for pond. One for double socket so my boy can charge his scooter and Hoover board. Total amps for his scooter and HB is 3.5 amps many thanks

It is possible but likely that the cable for pump etc will be big enough to allow a 16A breaker.
this is a new circuit outdoors? If so, you need to find a registered domestic installer to complete the work and notify building control on your behalf.

Thanks it’s not a new set up. Been there for a few yrs now and last checked this yr. March I think.

I don't see why not does the 6A not do anything.

The 6amp is currently supplying a socket which a well known electrical testing firm did. They did my electrical safety check this yr.

It doesn't do any lights just a socket.

Must be on a 6 for a reason

All I know is it was on T&E 1.5mm but it was changed to T&E 2.5mm in conduit. About 8 inches from CU to socket

Might help if we could see inside if you can isolate it and take the cover off.

It is a so called garage board and those are the breakers it would have come with.

I see ,im not in the UK so not familiar with a lot of UK things or bs7671

Not really anything to do with BS7671 but that type of board is referred to as a garage board, two breakers one power the other lighting often produced by the cheaper brands. These manufacturers also produce so called shower boards with a single 40A breaker, they are really aimed at builders and the like.

RCD incommer most likely on a 6sq supply

Ring circuit presumably for sockets ? and a lighting mcb

Crap brand that protek I'm familiar with them
