I have a double light switch that controls the kitchen and the outside lights. I want to replace it with a new switch but the new switch looks very different to the old one.

I tried to post photos but couldn't for some reason.

Any able to help me - I can send phots if required.

Here are the photos
Old one still connected and the new one

Each switch looks like a straight swap over. L1 to L1, L2 to L2 and squiggly line with arrow through to L.
Repeat for other switch
I notice the old switch was a metal faceplate that wasn’t earthed.
Just an observation if you have other metal switches and sockets in the house.

I thought that the old switch looked a bit of a funny shape! Completely failed to notice any part of the brass faceplate.
The problem that can arise for DIYers, is that some switches are marked L1, L2 and L3 and others are marked C, L1 and L2, and of course, the L1 and L2 are not the same for both switches.
