Bg weatherproof rcd fused spur

Hi guys
I installed this unit protecting a shed for a customer a while back and he’s text me with images showing the fuse burnt and it’s holder melted. All connections are tight and no moisture inside.
Any ideas why?
Also I’m hoping to replace this spur with a more reputable brand within its existing weatherproof box.

I'm far from being the brains of this operation, but there has been quite a bit of discussion around the subject of plugs/FCUs with fuseholders that provide inadequate connection to the fuse. Your situation seems to fit, but it would be interesting to see the pictures.

What size and type of fuse??

What's is feeding in the shed heating or other.

Standard 13a busman fuse
Feeding few sockets, 2 x 18w led battens. I’d imagine a heater has been plugged in.

I'd say the heater has been plugged in for extended periods. 2x 18w leds would not cause that sort of heat unless there is am extremely poor connection over a long period of time.

I’d guess it’s a combination of poor quality rcd spur and a heater or like you said a hot tub over a sustained period.

From the BG data sheet, the incoming L seems to go to the bottom of the fuse, so given the problem happened at the top of the fuse, it's not loose cable termination (as if!)
Faulty accessory and/or overload

?

If it's feasible and cable size/length etc to the outbuilding permits I'd consider a new IP rated enclosure housing a 16a DP compact RCBO, gives a little more leeway- but I do think the customer may have been taking liberties with the load at the other end....
