Hi guys, I'm working sub contract for a plumbing company installing Air source heat pumps, they have there MCS audit coming up and have asked if im 18th edition, when I done my exams it was 15th edition, I've done 15th, 16th and 17th but never got round to actually doing the 18th, so my question is do I need 18th to subcontract to a heating company that has MCS accreditation thanks in advance

MCS don't have specific requirements re quals etc but it's for the registered company to prove that they and their employees and subcontractors have the relevant knowledge, experience and qualifications.

Were you asked to prove your knowledge experience and quals to the plumbing co. when you first started working with them?
Have you ever been Audited by the Plumbing Co?

Snippet from MCS requirements;

All new electrical work needs to be done to the current edition of the wiring regulations, whoever you're working for.
So I would say you should go ahead and get the 18th. It's not difficult for someone who's done the 17th.

I think the issue is that the Plumbing Co didn't originally check if the O.P was 18th and have now realised they're going to have issues convincing MCS that they are compliant.
I wonder what else they aren't compliant on.

If the O.P was to sign up to do the 18th now, as above as he should really be anyway, then I'm sure it will help the Plumbing co's case.
