Greetings all, just had a consumer unit upgraded and wanted your opinion before I have words with the electrician. Some stuff is obvious like the gland strip not fitted properly, you can’t just about make it ou, but others not sure off ie should the the meter tails have been fed separately from other cables also not sure why he didn’t just come straight up from the bottom of the CU. and what are those plastic connectors doing. Also he did not use a torque screwdriver but not sure if that is mandatory. Wish I’d found this forum prior to hiring him but went via reviews and checked he was registered. Thanks in advance.

Yes been paid and not about having beef, I’m not normally one to stand on a tradesman’s shoulders while they work as you must have trust but some items were left undone which I didn’t realise at the time so got me wondering if those have been missed then what else has. You didn’t comment on the seal strip that has come away so you have the wiring against the sharp edge of the entry point. Are the other points I raised not an issue then? Thanks

Very Scruffy and looks rushed , I would have done things very very differently

As for lack or torque screwdriver , again is just lazy workmanship

some times it comes away ,if not glued
Also he did not use a torque screwdriver but not sure if that is mandatory
no mandatory ,but manufacturing instructions . i use my torque arm for installing consumer units ,so if me arms tells me brains its tight then me arms stops working.
