Installed a new ceiling fan, with no previous light or power. There is a switch in the room that controls an outlet. I am trying to draw power from that switch to install another switch that controls the fan (+fan light, just 1 switch for both). Before I do the wiring, just want to make sure I have it right. The dotted lines are the ones I'm planning on installing. I'll be changing the single gang box, to a double gang. The grey colored line is White/Neutral. Brown = Copper/Ground.
Any advice would be helpful. I can provide more information if needed. Standard 120V, 15AMP, 14 gauge wire. I connected the 14-2 cable to the ceiling wire per Home Depot and product instructions, up through the attic, and then down the wall to the switch.
Thanks!
