This happened on the works array over they weekend.

Lost most of the magic smoke from it, don’t think l’ll get it all back in again.

Also fried the DC isolation so couldn’t isolate, had to crack open the emergency rubber gloves and matt.

Enjoy!

Wow, was thinking about putting one in my bedroom, did it contain the shrapnel ?

Not sure, it’s on a gantry so debris could have gone anywhere.

It was still smoking this morning so quickly pulled the DC. That was interesting with no isolation…

I have deployed a number of Solis inverters and so far all are still working, would be interested in which component exploded as the release of gas to distort the cover is something i have not seen before in any small inverter type device, they normally die quietly... lol
Is it possible the panel/string max power has gone above the rating of the inverter and the overheat stat/ power controls have failed and as such boom? From memory each string has a max power within the 80KW overall max. Think its 26A per MPPT anyway did the A/C breaker trip?

That's a very extreme failure to do that sort of damage to a steel cabinet.

The AC was locked off when I got to work yesterday morning so not sure. I only got involved when it started to burn again.

I think im going to check my invertor up in the attic.... or at least fit a new smoke detector up there!
Mines on the garage wall thankfully.

We’re fitting 2 additional smokes above all ours at work as it wasn’t detected by the closest one.
