Discuss How to remove this old smoke detector? in the Security Alarms, Door Entry and CCTV (Public) area at ElectriciansForums.net
Our Northern California home built on 1977 has a built-in Gard-Site Smoke Detector model 081-612. It does not has battery. Its mounted on the ceiling. We assume its AC hardwired, correct? Its making false alarms. How do we remove it? Thank you very much for your help.
It's made by CASADY ENGINEERING ASSOCIATES Torrance CA
Cannot find any details on this company. Just marked merger out.

Don’t know about over there, but in Uk, domestic smoke detectors are designed just to be unplugged, and replaced when they go wrong.
We have expiry dates on ours so they have to be replaced at some point.
The bases remain on the ceiling, and the detector either slides or turns to take off.
There may be a small clip that needs pressed in with screwdriver tip to release.
A photo might help, but likely
@Megawatt has come across them before.
