I have a countdown timer switch hooked up to run my washroom fan. It stopped working all of a sudden.

I replaced it with a regular switch and the fan worked.

I took the old timer switch and hooked it up to another different washroom fan, and the old switch worked.

What am I missing?

A poor connection that you have fixed when switch was changed
Or a faulty switch brought back to life with the movement of replacement

Mmmm! Your profile gives your location as Halifax, but I'm beginning to think you're nowhere near West Yorkshire. There must be another Halifax somewhere.
A quick Google search shows hat there are near identical versions of this, one requiring a neutral connection and one not, with the version requiring a neutral having MN tacked to the end of the part number.
