I am installing 9 LED downlights each with an RGB bulb in (i will try attach pictures on them) - anyway I have been told that they need to be wired in a row. Like in/out - in/out in a ring pattern terminating at the last light. I am going to connect them to my wires where the old light fitting was. My question. Do I have to do them in a ring? Or can I wire them how I want? For example could I wire 7 in a ring and the last 2 in another ring coming from the same source? so go from source to 7 lights and then from source to the last 2 lights? or i have to do all 9 in 1 ring? I ask becasue of the way my joists/rooms are set out. Thanks - btw for anyone wandering greenhouse still working great after FIVE YEARS!!!!!

They don’t have to be in a radial circuit as in-out, in-out.

You can have something like a spider web if you like… where all cables come back to one point.

Just make any joint boxes accessible (by removing a light from the ceiling) and make sure the earth wires are connected through… even if the lights themselves don’t need them.

Apart from OP saying the greenhouse is still working..... implying he hasn't changed anything with it yet.... i'm hoping that in the past 5 years he has actually improved in his skills.

We shouldn't judge the current competency of someone over something they did 5 years ago.

Unless there's some recent evidence to show otherwise.

The OP is DIY tagged, so the more we assist, the more they learn to do things properly.
