Things are changing so much in this industry… how are we Electrician’s supposed to catch up when the ruling bodies dont know what’s going on😂
Spot the difference.. I had to make a change in my not so old book.
its always been a C3 on existing properties

Seems a pointless colouring-in book to me.

This is where life gets really blurred. We interrogate an installation and provide an opinion for it's safe and continued use, for a period of time.

So here's an entirely hypothetical example.... domestic bungalow occupied by an 80yr old frail widow. It has an old wylex board, no rcd's. The global IR is above let's say 5MOhm, all the necessary bonding is in place although not necessarily to modern sizes, it's a TNS incomer. Are you actually going to make a claim that the lack of RCD protection for cables buried in the walls is a risk to her safety? Using a drill she doesn't own and wouldn't have the strength to lift anyway to fit a shelf that she hasn't needed for the last 40 years?? Because it clearly isn't . As/when she moves out the report we've just written becomes irrelevant anyway because we're told that any change of occupancy of a property warrants a fresh inspection, so the argument of 'someone else might...' is nonsense.

Discuss!

Agree no RCD on sockets might be a difficult RA…& maybe the bathroom area other than that jobs a good one…fingers crossed…😎

As soon as you feel the need to start consulting these books/guides you need to question your own ability to be doing the job.

That Is just not the case… it’s like saying why take an Exam when you know it all
I remember in the 70’s everything was Taboo the NICEIC wouldn’t give you an inch on anything & tell you nothing, all you had was a Reg Book that was that
These days if a problem arise you have help left, right & centre… & in my opinion the more advice & information the better😎
