Helping a friend out with a gate/intercom setup. Some terminating and a couple of joints needed

Is there a decent stripping tool for this cable ?

What's the best type of connector for the enclosed joints ?

Cable has been in a while and is sticky as treacle ?

Sorry

10 core poly poly telephone type cable

The sheath is tough i'd need something to rip it

Also the joints I've to do, I remember seeing a simple crimped type connector used in telephone wiring

I've not heard of that type of cable but most telecoms cables I've seen come with some sort of rip cord inside it to split the sheath.

Could be UY2 connectors, also known as jelly crimps, used for joining small solid core cables

Ah thanks I think that's the one , how do ye remember all the names UY2

, id have to google it everytime

Cable is below , I think maybe that name not used in UK

It has a hard sheath and no rip cord

I know what you mean now, that cable is hideous to strip, in the past I've ended up just chewing at it with cutters.
Is that the version which is also filled with some sort of sticky goo that gets everywhere?

If it is what I think it is then no, it's the sort of horrible chewy plastic that just stretches and won't break.

There is a special stripping tool available for stripping this type of cable sheath.

Ya sticky glue it's hideous to work with

Not sure about that .

Anyway I'm thinking now excluding the additional wiring needed i've only 2 of these ends to terminate so I'll be able to manage

I'll use a different type cable for the new sections

Actually have a version of that tool and planned on using it

Simple but effective as any I reckon
