Hi guys,

I have my am2 resit this week, I just done the pre assessment day and I was told that the sy cable needs to have a lock nut either side of the gland. So two lock nuts on each side.

So one to lock down the two washers and then one to lock them together in the box...in the videos online they just use the lock nut on the inside of the box.

Could some one please assist

If I remember correctly it's one locknut either side of the washers to hold shielding in place, then one inside the enclosure to hold the gland securely.

Just looked at an image as I never use SY in the wild. Two locknuts in total - one to lock washers against gland body and one to secure gland to enclosure.

you just need something like this gland which pinches the braid

that being said 99.99% of SY I come across these days is just fitted using a plastic compression gland

Depends where you look,

From Dusty's link, these instructions show only 1 locknut and the braid in terminated to the gland with the washers within the enclousre, seems to make more sense than having the washers, extra nut and braid all showing outside the enclosure.

So if you are following manufacturers instruction then for this make gland the correct way in single nut.

That may not be the instructions other manufacturers use, so for a practical assessment you need to follow the instructions for the specific gland you are using.
