Hi All!

I just moved into a property with a water tank heater which has the Horstmann Economy 7 Quartz timer. I include two photos.

I cannot find online any guide regarding how to use this and the landlord is not responding as he left on holiday (worst timing ever).

Can anyone tell me how I should be using this?

There is a cheaper Octopus energy tariff at night so I would like this to heat up water at night and not during the day. There is no hot water.

Thank you in advance,
Lou

Switch to TIMED and set the time clock to 18.00 (or correct time when you do it) to Winter.
The times the heater is enabled are set on the inside back of the unit, but should already be within E7 times.

The boost timer will bring the immersion heater on immediately.

Hi Snowhead,

Thank you for your message. Can you please explain to me how to set the timer? I can see a "SUMMER TIME" indicator on top left pointing at 17.5 right now and "WINTER TIME" indictor on top right pointing at 16.5.

But, I also see some orange indicator inside the box on bottom left between 1 and 2.5 and a blue indicator on bottom right between 6.5 and 8.

Thank you in advance,
Lou

The change over times for E7 are normally 12 midnight to 7AM GMT all year round, so in summer the cheap period is from 1AM to 8AM. This why you have the summer time and winter time lines for setting the clock. It's winter now, so set the dial so that the actual time of day is against the winter time line.
After the clocks change next month, the correct time of day will be against the summer time line, so you don't have to adjust the dial.
The blue and orange indicators that you can see are the setting levers for the 'on' and 'off' times, and although they can be adjusted from behind the faceplate, they appear to be correct, switching the immersion heater on at 1AM and off at 6.30AM.
Switch the rocker to 'timed', adjust the dial to the correct time, and all should be good to go. If you run out of hot water during the day, turn the 'boost' dial anticlockwise to at least the '60' mark, and the immersion heater, or the upper heater, if your tank has two, will turn on for the indicated number of minutes.
