what book do you guys recomend for learning the city and guilds 2330 level 3

i order'd one on amazon a while ago to get an email today to say that they have discontinued the book

this is purely for home study becasue they tend not to use these kind of books at college

(its mainly the on site guide they use and ive got that on order as well)

(is anyone that has finished the course willing to send me there old books, ill pay through pay pal for you)

I basically used 'Electrical Installations Level 3 2330 Technical Certificate & 2356 NVQ Student Book' along with the level 2 book, but mine are buried somewhere, and were written to the 16th Ed (i started well before the 17th came out). Those revised books are for sale on amazon (cover looks like a fiber optic splayed out).

Another option (was recommended by my lecturer at the time, but already had the above) are books by Brian Scaddan (i don't know what they're called as i only had a brief glimpse a few years ago). His books came highest rated by my old lecturer by a long way.

There are probably loads of other options, those are the only 2 i know of, so see what other folk say too.

There were some mistakes in my books (generally spotted very easily), no matter what you go for, keep your eyes open as there can be mistakes in any book!

Look at some reviews, look into the Brian Scaddan books too, and like i said above see what other folk here say over the next couple of days.

chris kitcher. osg, trevor lisley and loads of stuff of the forum.... only book ive never looked at is the bs7671 as i knew new one was coming out....

Shanky take a look at this (as mentioned by I=P/U)
Practical Guide to Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations: Conforms to 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations BS 7671:2008 and Part P of Building Regulations: Amazon.co.uk: Christopher Kitcher: Books

I used this for my L3 & still refer to it. I have a PDF of it if you like before buying it to have a look...
I'm sure you'll be asked to get GN3 as well. That's pretty much all I used along with the Regs for Practical...You won't need so many Tools either as Pots of testing!

yes chris kitchers guide is a great book found it very useful for the 2391 and now as its only £11 a bargain compared to some all scaddons have been updated also on amazon the inspection and testing is a £10 but the electrical installation work book has shot up to £28 think its because it has now been updated with all info for the new 2357

The New regs Ie BGB is also on there and thats the cheapest i have seen it for £58

The main problem with 'Scaddens' books is the fact that he repeats sections of one book in another. It does not make the information any less valid, and I think his writing is clear, concise and easy to understand. I just resent buying a book of his only to find I already have the very same information already.
