doing the am2 exam and need some help arghhh!

For the FP200 co2 dectector circuit, does the fp200 need to be seperated from the mains? I remember installing some on site once and it had to be segregated then and i was going to install it like that today. then noticed the dado trunking didnthave any holes to the fuseboard in the bottem or top section

AND for the motor circuit how do you set the overload? never worked with motors or anything so not sure and never heard of anything like this need doing in the past! wish i had.

Fp200 is on its own circuit into the DB, 'P clipped along cable tray using M6 nuts and bolts after coming out of the dado trunking.

The entry for cables into the DB from the dado trunking ARE THERE! (look harder) If there not, tell your assessor. Your rig is incorrect! There should be a lockring and bush......I think its 32mm

so basicly it should in to top compartment separated from the rest of the installation? theres 2 entrys in the main compartment but not the top nor bottom.

it doesn't need to be separated, it's 230v. Only elv systems need separated. Don't put it in the top compartment, U will FAIL as that is where the data cable goes. When wiring the data, remember to use the conduit bridge through the middle part of the trunking.

Motor overload is motor rating, eg 800w. divided by 3 so 266, then divide by 230, so 1.16, then multiply by 110% so 1.2 roughly. That is how you do it. They should cover this on the pre- AM2.

FP200 may generally be installed alongside other cables since it is screened. However BS5839-1:2002 does not allow any fire alarm cable to be installed in the same conduit or common trunking (unless in its own compartment) as any other cables. The fire alarm equipment manufacturer may also recommend separation of cables to minimise electromagnetic interference.

so what the **** do i do? Its a carbon monoxide dectetor.

and thanks, he never went over the motor over load on the am2 refresher day.

And another thing they want neurals at the switches. So what i've done is how do you upload a pic ill send a drawing.

feed to first switch, then 3 core between inter and two way. Neutrals and earths in wagos. First switch - live in, into common, black into L1, gray into L2, brown into wago with switch feed to light. At intermediate switch, grey and black as above, browns into wago. At two way, brown into common, grey and black as above.

That's not how they want it done though. At least what I have described is the diagram I was given in the notes on my refresher course.

try not to think too much into the am2 everything on the rig is there for you, you dont have to separate the fp the containment is all installed, it's self explanitory, I wouldnt read into it too much.

And as far as how to wire the lighting theres no need to seek information on here it will be provided in the am2 "job pack" and you have to follow that fully aslong as you understand two way intermediate lighting don't worry about it, and the ring circuit has to be wired exactly as shown to you in the pack. Just make sure you use p clips and roofers on the fp and push connectors instead of connector blocks for the lighting but again this is all shown to you in the information you receive. I wouldnt look into it TOO much to be honest

the problem is i would have flown by in this a couple of months back but since working with some1 new ive become more cautious on what i do and look at the majority of things i do before i do it which i think is stumping me a bit for my am2. grrr

how strict are they ?
do you test zs or do they expect you to use the equation instead as ive been told different things

Hi, what excatly is a conduit bridge? I have AM2 coming up and would like too see a photo of one. Or is it simply a short section of 20mm PVC conduit that you push in?
