Can anyone give me a wee bit of guidance on what exactly an immersion tank with a thermal cut-out looks like?

Is it a separate piece of equipment from the thermostat fitted onto the tank? Or is the thermostat and cut out housed in the one thing on the tank

Basically, doing (only my second) DEICR today I came across an immersion tank (please see photo attached) and I'm aware of the need for it to comply with BS60335-2-73 p prevent the overheated water filling the tank above coming throught the ceiling as has happened a few times in recent years.

Thanks for any help.
[ElectriciansForums.net] Thermal Cut-Out on Immersion Tank? OK .... This is all that was in the tank.

Well I'm pretty nervous about doing these Condition Reports so Im being pretty thorough. Having done the Domestic Installer thing for three and a bit years I feel just about confident enough to do it.

Small terrace house - six circuits, plus five storage heater radials on Eco7. Took me about six hours ..... don't laugh!

Well its better to be safe then sorry, you wil get quicker with time, the immersion stat is a good spot and is now reccommend as a C2 if its not a safety one!

Good luck with the testing!

Better six hours than thirty minutes, too may people pay lip service to inspection and testing.

Six hours is fine, especially if you have to find all the accessories in cupboards and trace circuits.
11 circuits 30 mins a circuit no problem, admittedly the storage heaters probably took somewhat less time!
Do good work first then once you are confident you can ease off a bit, better than starting off bad and getting worse.

I will never understand if carried out correctly how an EICR can be carried out so quickly. I alway take my time with EICR and charge accordingly, it's my name on the cert, if i get odd results i record and code them and tick further investigation required. On 99% of EICR i always get the remedial work. On a job i done in february for a landlord, i had a read of a recent inspection which stated 10mm mpb to gas & water and 16mm earthing conductor. Well there was no bonding at all, there was an earthing conductor to a rod which was 6mm!!! The landlord was confused to why i would not carry out any work until mpb was in place.

what's wrong with 6 hours? at least the customer knows he's getting a piece of paper ( several pieces ) that's worth something, not a 30 minute made up piece of rubbish that' he'd have more use for wiping his arse on.
