In this months Professional Electrician mag the caught on camera section has a pic of a blown up plug (bottom right) and a comment on loads of stuff running from it and being overloaded. Am I missing something, because surely if it was overloaded the 13amp fuse would blow?

Not bad,but in a farm workshop,on the ragged end of an old Wolf 9" grinder,i found a galvanised "U" nail, hammered straight with the ends neatly hacksawed off. That's 4 times more work than it would have taken to put a new fuse in....

Yea I saw that too it had a jacuzzi on it?
The kind of person to do that style of work it wouldn't be supprising if the fuse was a nail of some sort
you should`v seen this jaccusi i saw a while back....lol....no cpc and an open `joint box`......well, it wasn`t even a joint box.....just connector blocks and an swa lashup......lol....
i asked em how if they ever used it......`oh, generally at the weekends` she said.....lol....you should`v seen it...lol.....
didn`t have a camera with me at the time....or i would have got some pics for you all to have a laugh at....
god, some folk.....lol...

A 13A BS1362 plug-top fuse can withstand an overload of 39A for nearly 3 hours, in that time a lot heat can be generated with obvious consequences.

I got this one off of a Mig welder. Stupid boys haha .......
