Discuss Which voltage tester is best for a apprentice in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi,
Can't say if the Newey / Di-log are the same as the Flukes but the Newey and Di-log user guides are identical apart from the name of course.

I also use a Fluke multimeter, great bit of kit and a Fluke voltage stick.

Cheers,
Lofty

No intention to turn this into a joke thread by any means......but........

Am I the only one that remembers what apprentices used to be put through by way of learning what electricity could do?

Am I the only one that suffered being stood on a METAL step ladder, with an (unknowingly) stripped back probe, attached to a REAL megger (wind up one), told to stuff it in the lamp holder, while some kind, gentle fully qualified, loving tutor electrician quietly popped the clamp onto the base of the steps, and watched, with tears in his eyes (of glee) while some other kind, gentle, fully qualified guvnor electrician proceeded to wind the thing up and let it go........

Electricity hurts, chaps.

Well ive liked my Amprobe VP-710, it does everything basic measurements like voltage, continuity and phase rotation test. I also have a Mastech clamp multimeter. When i carry these around i can measure almost everything you have to, and these are reliable too.

I find I seem to break the fluke t100 connection at the body cos it sits in my tool belt all the time .broke it down and repaired it tho.bought the new megger one a couple of months ago good build quality, mind what's wrong with a bc lamp holder and Pygmy lamp combo that I first started out with!old school or what

How did you split the body of it?, i have one with same problem.
The fluke t5-1000 with holster and volt stick is a great piece of kit too.

I think someone had a fluke tester for sale on here,as new, maybe have a look in the for sale section.I have a fluke basic, will upgrade to a digital unit when spare cash available.

Hi am new to the forum, so I wanted to start off by saying hi.

I am getting back into electrical work (I gaining my 17th Edition and 2392-10 about 2.5 years ago and then returned back to a desk job due to the lack of available work / sites etc) and I wanted to know which tester people would recommend?

I have been looking at the Fluke T5-1000 or the Fluke T140, as I have a Fluke 1AC II Voltalert and previously used a Fluke Installation Tester when I gained my 2392-10 (also people on here still seem to also rate the Fluke products). As I am wanting to get a tester to enable me to undertake domestic installation (and hopefully advance to doing commercial work as well in the future) I want to buy once and have all the required features that I can for ease etc.

Thanks in advance for any advice provided.

got it for a year. it still works, measures voltage ac/dc, continuity (with a buzzer too). costs 25 quid new.
probe length is adjustable.

I decided to purchase the T5-1000 unit, but apparently I also need a proving unit and a contact voltage indicator for an annual inspection with a scam (such a the NICEIC). Is this true? If so, do I need something like a Martindale VI13700/2 and a PD440 kit?

for my last elecsa assesment they wanted to see only my mft, make sure is calibrated.
not sure what nic wants, they seem to have their own rules...
