Hyundai panels

Has anyone fitted these? Are they any good? are they better alternatives around the same price mark?

Fitted my first black framed Hyundai array the week before last. No particular problems. Same thickness as Sanyos, but have MC4 connectors on them so no need to be chopping off and crimping on new connectors. Would have used then before 12 Dec, but at their price Segen ran out of them immediately during the rush.

Do they look better black framed? only a few quid more for the black frame rather than silver.

All in the eye of the beholder really. Most of my customers would say yes - older people, older houses, villages, conservation areas

We use these over the Sharp range now and have done for a while now. Far better quality and the frames don't distort with the clip. Easier to line up and better output as well. 10yr warranty as standard. I'd have them on my roof.

Black frame probably looks better to most people, but black does tend to attract heat - and solar panel efficiency declines slightly as they get hotter.
A number of fitters also grumble about how it can be quite difficult to avoid marking the black paintwork in the process of transporting, handling and fitting the panels.

We installed mostly the black 250w from Sept 2011. They look great and people do like the black frames over the chrome/ Ali in our experience. They are well priced and nice to fit. possibly a bit too pricey in our current market though.

Trying not to scratch black panels is a tough call, we install LG often and they scratch before you've even touched them!

that's because we bought them all.....

well, we bought the last pallet of 250s and last pallet of 245s. I think we installed 6 pallet loads of them in that period in total.

I've been really impressed with them, and using the same clips as the sanyos in most circumstances is really good as it means less different clip types to keep in stock. It was an issue when segen / schuco ran out of those clips in the Autumn, but we got around that by buying the silver clips and having a local firm anodise them for us.... fun and games.

We've also done some destruction testing on them with a football because we're planning an installation on a football stand, and can confirm they don't seem to mind having a football smacked against them.

Any thoughts on black panels on the market at the moment. Other than Panasonic, what would people recommend?

Wouldn't recomment panasonic at current prices, Sunpower is now a far better option in the premium bracket.

We're still doing mostrly Hyundai, their price is higher than many of the offerings out there ATM but justifiable IMO as the quality is exceptional. Very rigid, well constructed box section frame at only 35mm, very sleek. Heres one i prepared earlier...

One word of caution tho, we lost a job recently quoting these against the Hyundai 218's, they come in a LOT cheaper. Customer thought we were too expensive but we were cheaper offering more expensive panels if you see what i mean, he didn't allow us the opportunity to explain the difference or requote using the 218's which we'd have beaten or matched at our normal pricing.

Looks great Energetic. I think panels look better on slate roofs than any other roof covering - black or silver framed.
