I have been asked to install 6 downlights in a customers bedroom. The 3 makes that keep springing out at me are :

LAP, Robus and JCC

I dont like LAP switches/backboxes etc but thats all I know of them.

I intend to only offer fire rated ones but would be grateful for anyones knowledge of those 3 makes of downlighters?

As for bulbs!!! 90p for halogen or £20 for LED!! Thats a massive difference, are the LED's worth it?

Cheers all..

Just thought I'd finish off the thread with what I think of the JCC (fireguard range) lights I used.

BRILLIANT to connect to! Plenty of room to fit 2 (1mm) cables into the little box they supply fitted to the light (with great big terminal blocks screwed in). I didn't need the wago's/choc box/junction boxes I had bought just in case!!

The only small downside was the strength of the springs. They were fine when put up, but i needed to take a couple back down and the springs seemed to weaken considerably (This might be common?) when put back up so I had to improvise a little so the lights fitted snugly against the ceiling.

Overall it was a pleasure fitting them. Thanks to those who recommended..
