Hi

I was wondering if anyone can help. I saw an inspection lamp on the internet that I wanted to have a go at making for myself.

The light has a wooden handle. A plastic lamp holder at one end with a metal cage clamped to it and at the bottom of the wooden handle there is a metal cable grip threaded into the wooden handle.

I was wondering if this is safe or whether a metal lamp holder should be used to provide earth continuity and whether it is safe to have a metal cable grip that doesn't seem to be earthed.

Sorry if this seems a stupid question just trying to learn some more...

Many thanks
Ps i tried to upload an image but as I am a new member I'm not yet able to but the item can be found by googling plumen inspection lamp in google images.

What an amusing-looking device! It really does look like an illuminated egg-whisk! :D I wonder if it is IP rated for immersion in raw eggs?
