Hi all, I wondered whether you think the earthing is adequate on this system, I personally don't think so.

[ElectriciansForums.net] Tn-S Earth adequacy

Any thoughts?

if it's sweated onto the lead sheath, then that's how DNO used to do them. looks like it's come adrift though and someone's used a 951 clamp. code C3 for the clamp if you're doing an EICR.

Well I went back again today and investigated a little further. The clamp has what looks like a 1mm single core cable attached to it dropping through the floorboards into the void. Not sure what it attaches to, cant see right now. Also the supply fuse needs uprating to 100a so hopefully when the DNO come round to the customers house they will either put pme in or up grade it for a fortune probably. We shall see.

See post 3! Any answers?

Why change the fuse?
Did you try pulling that cable? It's probably a kitchen fitters joke at bonding. Found one the other day, clamped to water pipe and a couple of feet stuffed under the floor.

Well if the TN-S is still giving a good Ze value, you don't want them to PME it, ...do you!!

how do you know the bullit isn`t 100A already?....
dont tell me....you read the sticker on the side of the fuse carrier (this is no real indication of In of bullit)

No ze. I went with every intention to do that today, but it did not happen. It does look mechanically sound.

A kiln would like to be used...

That would have been a good idea. lol
come on, why the hell not eh?....its better to arm yourself with a bit of info first as to whether the earthing arrangements coming in are adequate...or even there at all...
what do you think?

The easiest thing for the DNO to do is to fit the bigger fuse and attach a new bit of 16mm earth to the armour. That would be ideal.

Funny story actually, well not that funny but, I looked at it twice and on the second time saw 60a (in very tiny plastic print) so I took it out and it was actually a 60a fuse.

Rusty nails are what I sling in recycling bin after I've stripped pallets down. :)

A bit like Man City when they get stripped of the title this season. lol

I can't believe that you got ''nothing'' from this soldered TN-S cable connection, a high reading i can believe, but not nothing!!

I did'nt do the test. Explained that the fuse needed to be bigger and buggered off. I was'nt getting paid for this little investigation.

that cable disappearing could be to an earth rod, or a bad bit of bonding. best get customer to request a fuse upgrade and see what happens with DNO.
