Hi all been working on site today with another sparky and was only helping him out but i was questioning his cable grouping, he has grouped cooker (32A-6mm) and Kitchen Ring & Down Ring all though same holes for 3meters which i said i just would do this, but like he said if you work the calcs out its fine.

I know for rings each leg has to carry min 20amp so when i got home and worked it out it doesnt seem the rings are ok but cooker is, have i done it wrong ?

Please help :( lol

Many Thanks

Jimmy

drill 4 holes at least 3 diameters apart...make the holes large enough to get cables through without burning them whilst pulling them in.....
you should have enough holes to carry the cables through..(for a avarage house anyway)...and as long as the diameter is a 1/4 of the joist depth and is set so the top and bottom of the holes drilled are a minimum of 50mm from either the top or bottom surface of the joist....then your good
christ...whats hard about that?

You haven't seen what he's drilling with!

oh...its one of these is it...

Cut out some notches top and bottom and just lay the cables in - much easier than yanking them through holes. If its good enough for plumbers... :D

(Note: do not do this. Drill your holes in the correct zones as described in the OSG or EGTTBR)
